Eight players are paired in 2-game matches. The four winners
from the 1st round are paired in 2-game matches. The 2 winners from the 2nd
round are paired in a 2-game match. The winner of the 3rd round becomes the KO
tournament's Champion!

General rules for FRCEC Knock Out tournaments

Number of participants: 8
·
Number of rounds: 3
·
Each player has two games per round with their
opponent, one with the white and one with the black pieces. The winner of
the round goes on to the next round. In case of a tie (1-1 score), the lower
rated player moves on to the next round.
·
For the 1st round players are seeded by
rating, highest to
lowest.
·
Top half of the crosstable
has the games with players 1 vs 8 and 3 vs 6.
·
Bottom half of the crosstable
has the games with players 2 vs 7 and 4 vs 5.
·
Winners in Top Half face each other in Round 2, and the
same with the winners of the Bottom Half.
·
Winners of Round 2 face each other for the KO
championship! In case of a Tie, a
rematch might take place.
